Here is a picture of an elk trail near where I got my elk last year. The trail goes to the left of the middle tree, drops down through a creek you can't see in the picture, then up the other side. Our first elk camp was about a mile from here. About a mile in the other direction there is a cougar killed cow elk (won't post that picture here, although it is impressive what the cougar does).

About 50 yards back in the brush is a bed where the cougar has been laying down near the kill. The blowdown (tree) behind the bed has scratch marks where the cougar has been sharpening his claws.

I tried not to leave to much human scent around the area and set up the trail camera overlooking the bed in hopes of getting a picture of the cougar. And...whohoo! There he or she is, coming in to the kill after dark!

The first flash didn't seem to bother it too much, here is the parting shot.

I snuck in a few days later and noticed the kill was still being fed on. Snuck back in to the lair, but no luck :(.
Hope you enjoyed the story,
Levi

So when do we get to see the real pictures? Come on.....where's the the one of you taking down the cougar with your bare hands and a pocket knife and then feeding on it while wearing it's pelt as a trophy?
